Abstract
The present invention discloses a membrane distillation system and method for removal of arsenic-based pollutant from a liquid feed to produce drinkable water, said system comprising: a ceramic membrane module adapted to removes arsenic pollutants hence filters out arsenic from liquid feed; a bioremediation module comprising microalgae Botryococcus sp. wherein liquid retentate from the membrane is directed to the bioremediation apparatus for production of hydrocarbons; and wherein the system produces drinkable water with maximum contamination level (MCL) of 10 ppb.
