The present disclosure provides an injection molding apparatus (200, 400, 802) and a method of fabricating a component. The apparatus (200, 400, 802) may include a barrel (210, 410) comprising a first section having an end associated with a mold through a nozzle (208, 408) or a gate insert, a second section coupled to a hopper (206, 406) configured to fill a material into the barrel (210, 410), and a temperature transition section between the first section and second section. The apparatus may include an extrusion screw (202, 402) placed inside the barrel (210, 410) and rotatable relative to the barrel (210, 410). The apparatus may include one or more heaters (214A, 214B, 214C, 225) associated with the first section of the barrel (210, 410) to heat the material inside the barrel (210, 410).
