Abstract

An object of an aspect of the present invention is to achieve both a reduction in raw material cost and high efficiency of lipid production in the production of lipids such as oils and fats by microorganisms of the genus Aurantiochytrium. A method of producing a lipid in accordance with an aspect of the present invention is a two-stage fermentation method including the steps of: acetic-acid-producing microorganisms fermentatively producing acetic acid from e.g. a byproduct gas including carbon dioxide; and microorganisms of the genus Aurantiochytrium fermentatively producing a lipid from the acetic acid produced in the preceding step.
