Abstract
The present invention discloses an assembly and a method for monitoring a diet of a subject. The assembly comprises a food service unit (100) comprising compartments (101) for receiving a plurality of chafing dishes (102) in which prepared meals are served; a subject check-in unit (200) for receiving a check-in request from the subject; a tray collection unit (300) comprising a plurality of removable shelves (301) for operatively receiving a plurality of meal containers in which the prepared meals are apportioned from the food service unit (100); a subject check-out unit (400) for receiving a check-out request from the subject; and a data processing unit (500) for determining a net weight of each of the apportioned prepared meals consumed by the subject thereby obtaining a net calorie intake of the subject between a time period defined by the said check-in request and the said check-out request using a plurality of first weight sensors (102) and a plurality of second weight sensors (302).
