Abstract

A latch mechanism (30) is mounted to an upper bar (22) via a bracket (40) in a front portion of a vehicle front space (12). The bracket (40) includes a protrusion part (42) which is tilted to a vehicle front side and protrudes upward above the upper bar (22), and the latch mechanism (30) is mounted in the protrusion part (42). When an impact load is input from above to the vicinity of a front end portion of a hood (26) by a headform impactor, the impact load is applied from the hood (26) to the protrusion part (42) or to the protrusion part (42) through an upper end of the latch mechanism (30). Since the protrusion part (42) is tilted to the vehicle front side, the protrusion part (42) is easily deformed downward prior to other portions of the bracket (40). Therefore, the impact is absorbed efficiently, which is advantageous to the reduction of the damage value. (Fig. 2)
