Abstract
The present invention relates to a potentiometric sensor (10) for the detection of aluminium ions and a method thereof. In particular, the present invention relates to a potentiometric sensor using thiourea compound as an ionophore to detect aluminium ions. The use of the potentiometric sensor of the present invention for a potentiometric measuring system comprises at least one ion selective electrode; at least one pseudo- reference electrode; and at least one substrate membrane. The ion selective electrode is screen-printed (100) coated with a substrate membrane layer (101, 102) and thiourea compound as aluminium ionophore having active sites to detect aluminium ions. The pseudo-reference electrode for the potentiometric sensor is a screen-printed electrode coated with substrate membrane layer (101, 102), potassium ionophore I and potassium tetrakis(p-chlorophenyl borate).
