Abstract
According to one embodiment, an elevator rope inspection system includes a car and a counter weight held with a traction sheave of a traction machine, in which a wear condition of a rope having a resin coated surface is inspected by measuring gaps between a plurality of marks on the surface of the rope. The elevator rope inspection system includes a pulse generator (29), a mark detector (28), and a calculation device (30). The pulse generator (29) generates a pulse signal in synchronization with the revolution of the traction machine. The mark detector (28) detects each of the marks on the surface of the rope, which is disposed in the car side with respect to the traction sheave including an engage area in the car side on the traction sheave, or in the counter weight side with respect to the traction sheave including an engage area in the counter weight side on the traction sheave. The calculation device (30) calculates each gap between the marks based on a detection timing of each mark by the mark detector (28) and a count value of the pulse signal generated from the pulse generator (29), when driving the car in a predetermined direction based on a relationship between the position of the mark detector (28) and the engage area.
