Abstract

The present invention relates to an aerosol can (1). The aerosol can (1) comprises a body (100), a first disk (102) and a second disk (103) that are sealed hermetically at opposing ends of the body (100) and a valve assembly (300) which is fixedly mounted onto an annular boss of the first disk (102). An inner compartment (200) having a body with one end closed and a distal end open, is removably mounted onto an annular boss of the second disk (103). A cutting means (500) is fitted into an inner compartment (200). According to the present invention, the cutting means (500) comprises a camshaft (508), a cutter means (510) and a fastening means (524). The camshaft (508) comprises a turning head (504) passing through a central opening in a mounting cup (506) that is provided with a seal (518). The cutter means (510) comprises a housing (516) that is provided with a recess (517) that fully encases a cam (512) and a cam follower (514) that is further provided with a sharp blade (502) with a cutting point pointing away from the camshaft (508). The housing (516) is supported within the mounting cup. The fastening means (524) secures the camshaft (508) and the cutter means (510) to the mounting cup. When the turning head (504) is rotated, the camshaft (508) follows, in so doing, drives the cam (512) to push the cam follower (514) radially outwards and hence forces the sharp blade (502) against the inside surface of the inner compartment (200) to pierce the inner compartment (200). With further rotation of the turning head (504), the camshaft (508) and hence the cam follower (514) and the sharp blade (502) will follow in the rotation to cut the inner compartment (200) until complete severance.
