Abstract

Provided is a safety valve (200). The safety valve, in one aspect, includes a valve body (224) defining a central bore extending axially through the valve body, a sliding sleeve (222) disposed in the central bore, and a flow tube (208) disposed relative to the sliding sleeve. The safety valve, in this aspect, further includes a piston (220) operable to transmit force to one or the other of the sliding sleeve or flow tube, a valve closure mechanism (204) disposed on a distal end of the valve body, and an activation channel (228) coupling the piston and a pressure downhole of the valve closure mechanism for providing the force to the one or the other of the sliding sleeve or flow tube.
