Description
Smibart, korrosjonsfast stål med høy nøytronabsorpsjonsevne.
Foreliggende oppfinnelse vedrører et
smibart, korrosjonsfast stål med høy nøy-tronabsorpsjonsevne. Et sådant stål er vel egnet for fremstilling av kontroll- og regulerstaver ved kjernereaktorer og strålebe-skyttelsesskj ermer.
I en kjernereaktor påvirkes energiut-viklingen direkte av nøytrostrømmen, hvor-for det er nødvendig å kunne kontrollere og regulere denne strøm. En kontroll og regu-lering av denne art skjer som oftest ved at der i strømmen innføres avskjermende kontroll- og regulerstaver med stor nøytron-absorpsjonsevne, ved at de inneholder et stoff med høyt absorpsjonstverrsnitt for nøytroner, og et sådant stoff er bor som til forskjell fra de fleste andre stoffer med til-svarende egenskaper, også er billig. Den virksomme bestanddel av bor er isotopen B<10 >som i naturlig bor forekommer i en mengde på 18,9 prosent.
Av fasthetsgrunner er det imidlertid
ikke mulig å fremstille kontroll- eller regulerstaver av rent bor eller en enkel kjemisk forbindelse av bor, idet man som oftest er henvist til å la bor inngår som et legerings-element i stål for å oppnå den nødvendige fasthet. Mengden av innlegert bor begren-ses dog av det faktum at større bortilset-ninger i høyst påtagelig grad nedsetter varmbearbeidbarheten, og ved ulegert stål kan man høyst tillate et innhold på ca. 2,5 prosent bor hvis der skal oppnås tilfreds-
stillende smibarhet. Det er dog kjent at man ved samtidig tilsetning av aluminium eller silisium kan øke mengden av bor i en stål-legering til høyst 4,5 prosent og allikevel få en noenlunde godtagbar varmbearbeidtoar-het.
Stål av de ovenfor nevnte typer har dog relativt dårlig korrosjonsfasthet og er av denne grunn ofte ikke brukbare. Man har
derfor søkt å legere inn bor i et basismate-riale bestående av austenitiske, rustfrie stål
av typen 18 prosent krom — 8 prosent nik-kel. I disse stål er dog varmbearbeidbarheten gått helt tapt ved borinnhold som overstiger 2 prosent.
Det har nu vist seg at man ved et stål i henhold til oppfinnelsen kan bevare en god varmbearbeidbarhet selv ved borinnhold opp til ca. 5 prosent og samtidig oppnå en korrosjonsfasthet som i vesentlig grad overstiger den ved ulegert stål, og det nye smibare, korrosjonsfaste stål med høy nøy-tronabsorpTijonisevne utmerker seg ved at det inneholder inntil 0,15 prosent karbon, 15—30 prosent krom, 2—5 prosent bor og titan i en sådan mengde at den i vektprosent utgjør minst 3 x % B — 5,8, inntil 2 prosent silisium og inntil 2 prosent mangan, foruten normale forurensningselemen-ter, såsom fosfor og svovel.
I nedenstående tabell er der gitt noen eksempler på stål i henhold til oppfinnelsen.
Ut over de ovenfor anførte bestanddeler inneholder stålene dessuten noe varierende mengder av silisium og mangan, dog ikke over 2 prosent av hver, samt normale for-urensningselementer, såsom fosfor og svovel.
Samtlige ovenfor angitte stål viste god varmbearbeidbarhet og kunne uten større vanskelighet smies ut fra ingot til stang. Smiingen ble utført innenfor temperatur-området 950—1100° C.
Alle de i tabellen angitte stål viste også en meget god korrosjonsfasthet. For å oppnå den tilsiktede gode korrosjonsfasthet viste det seg nødvendig å la krominnholdet utgjøre minst 15 prosent.
Ved å holde karboninnholdet lavt, un-der 0,15 prosent, bedres varmbearbeidbarheten, og ved den forholdsvis høye krom-tilsetning vil stålet være ferritisk innenfor hele det forekommende temperaturinter-vall.
Den overveiende del av bor antas å foreligge i form av titanborid, men det er ikke mulig teoretisk å forutse den minste mengde titan som kreves for oppnåelse av en tilfredsstillende varmbearbeidbarhet. Den funne forbindelse mellom det laveste titaninnhold og borinnholdet er derfor fremkommet som et resultat av et stort an-tall forsøk.
Claims (3)
1. Smibart, korrosjonsfast stål med høy nøytronabsorpsjonsevne, karakterisert ved at det inneholder inntil 0,15 prosent karbon, 15—30 prosent krom, 2—5 prosent bor og titan i en sådan mengde at den i vektprosent utgjør minst 3 x % B — 5,8, inntil 2 prosent silisium og inntil 2 prosent mangan, foruten normale forurensnings-elementer, som fosfor og svovel.
2. Stål i henhold til påstand ^karakterisert ved at det inneholder inntil 0,10 prosent karbon.
3. Stål i henhold til påstand 1 eller 2, karakterisert ved at det inneholder 18—28 prosent krom.
