Ved omsetningen av aromatiske forbindelser med nitrersyrer som inneholder HNOs og, eventuelt, H2S04 og/eller H2O og/eller H3P04 for å danne aromatiske nitroforbindelser, tilsettes ifølge oppfinnelsen en mengde fra 0,5 til 20.000 ppm av en eller flere overflateaktive substanser fra gruppen av de anioniske, kationiske, dobbeltioniske eller ikke-ioniske overflateaktive substansene til reaksjonsblandingen.
