Abstract

Et system for individuell styring av fargespredning i et eller flere optiske signaler som er bølgelengdedelt multiplekset, idet systemet omfatter utstyr for å kompensere for farge- spredning og som omfatter flere optiske differensialforsinkende elementer (35) som kan reguleres hver for seg. Et eksempel på et egnet optisk differensialforsinkende element er et avstembart Bragg-fibergitterfilter, hvis spektralrespons varierer langs lengden av gitteret, dvs. forrykkes suksessivt på en ikke-lineær måte. Systemet kan i tillegg omfatte et eller flere andre optiske differensialforsinkende elementer (45) som kan reguleres hver for seg og som er anordnet for å kompensere for mulige uønskede forsinkelser over bølgelengdebåndet for et signal som føres inn ved det første forsinkelseselement. Optiske sirkulatorer (30, 70) kan brukes for å rute signaler inn i og mellom mengdene av de forskjellige optiske differensialforsinkende elementer. Dette system har fordelen av å utgjøre et kompakt middel for frembingelse av selektiv differensiell forsinkelse på flere kanaler, og som er egnet for kompensering av fargespredning i et optisk kommunika- sjonsnett med bølgelengdedelt multipleksing.
