Abstract

Den foreliggende oppfinnelse vedrører datakoiranunikasjons- nett som benytter et modem og et telefonnett, for eksempel ISDN eller PSTN for sammenkobling mellom systemer. En sty- relogikk er inkludert i lag 2 protokollen som lukker den temporære forbindelse på lag 2 hver gang en tidsutløser ut- løses, og reetablerer den når en ny påfølgende melding fra lag 3 transmitteres. Tidsutløseren resettes hver gang en melding transmitteres. Sett fra lag 3 gir styrelogikken i lag 2 imidlertid en kontinuerlig forbindelse selv om den faktiske forbindelse alternerer. Derfor vil unødvendig tid som brukes i telefonnettet når ingen data transmitteres minimaliseres .
