Abstract

En fremgangsmåte for å identifisere geologiske undergrunnstrekk ved bruk av seismiske data, omfatter de trinn å inndele et undergrunnsareal i et antall disk- rete celler, å tilknytte cellene seismiske data som avbilder undergrunnsområder representert av cellene; å bestemme strukturelle karakteristikker for et antall av cellene; og å gruppere sammen nærliggende celler basert på de strukturelle karakteristikker for å identifisere det geologiske undergrunnstrekk. De grupperte celler kan også hensiktsmessig sammenføres og/eller vektoriseres. Fremgangs- måten er i stand til å identifisere seismiske reflektorflater, forkastningsflater og andre typer geologiske undergrunnstrekk. Fremgangsmåten er spesielt egnet for å identifisere hydrokarbonreservoar-grenserfor bruk ved tredimensjonal "delt jord"- reservoarmodellering.
