Det er beskrevet en fremgangsmåte og en innretning for sporing av et objektbilde i en bildesekvens (101), hvor et malvindu som er knyttet til objektbildet, etableres ut fra et første bilde i bildesekvensen, og en kantgradientretning uttrekkes. Et søkevindu som er knyttet til objektbildet, etableres ut fra et andre kantbilde i bildesekvensen, og en andre kantgradientretning som er knyttet til søkevinduet, uttrekkes. De første og andre kantretningsgradienter vektlegges og korreleres for å tilveiebringe en koordinatforskyvning mellom relative posisjoner av objektbildet i søke- og malvinduene, for å spore objektbildet i bildesekvensen.
