Oppfinnelsen vedrører et håndtak for en skistav og en håndstropp festet til dette. Håndstroppen inkluderer et håndbakomgivende stropparti (3) som er festet til et håndtak (1) ved hjelp av overføringsstropper (4, 5) som strekker seg under håndflaten og tommelen. Overføringsstroppene (4, 5) er ført inne i håndtaket gjennom slisser (6, 7) som befinner seg på motsatte sideflater av håndtaket og er skråstilt nedover i retning mot baksiden av håndtaket. Over slissene (6, 7) er stroppen festet mellom et kileformet klemelement (8) og de innvendige vegger i et hulrom som befinner seg inne i den øvre ende av håndtaket.
