Abstract

Oppfinnelsen angår anvendelsen av et preparat som et immunstimulerende middel, hvori preparatet omfatter biomasse utledet fra en metanotrof bakterieinneholdende kultur. Den immunstimulerende virkningen til dette biomassematerialet gjør preparatet spesielt egnet for anvendelse i forebygging av sykdommer eller tilstander i et dyr som er assosiert med, forårsaket av eller som på annen måte har bidratt til ethvert eksogent fremmed materiale, feks. en patogen mikroorganisme. En foretrukket biomasse for anvendelse ifølge oppfinnelsen er utledet fra en mikrobiell kultur omfattende Methylococcus capsulatus (Bath). (stamme NCIMB 11132), DB3 (stamme NCIMB 13287) og DB5 (stamme NCIMB 13289), eventuelt i kombinasjon med DB4 (stamme NCIMB 13288).
