Abstract
For å bestemme hvilken overføringshastighet man kan bruke i en returlink i et kommunikasjonssystem etablerer man en returaktivitetsbit (RAB) som sendes fra et aksesspunkt til en aktuell aksessterminal, idet denne verdi RAB først passerer et digitalfilter. Hastigheten bestemmes deretter ut fra det filtrerte resultat. En prosessor i aksessterminalen kan registrere tilstanden og overføre en tilstandsverdi av verdien RAB til digitalfilteret når tilstanden er ledig. Den filtrerte verdi kan sammenlignes med en terskel for å finne en modus for bestemmelse av hastigheten, idet denne modus fastlegger et sett kriterier for hvor aggressiv en økning eller reduksjon av hastigheten skal foregå, idet det ønskes å unngå at for store hastighetsendringer innføres. Prosessoren bestemmer derfor hastigheten ut fra den filtrerte verdi og i samsvar med den bestemte modus.
