Abstract
En fremgangsmåte for fremstilling av aluminium i en elektrolytisk celle som inneholder alumina løst i en elektrolytt. Fremgangsmåten innbefatter tilveiebringelsen av en smeltet saltelektrolytt ved en temperatur på mindre enn 900°C og med alumina løst deri i en elektrolytisk celle som har en foring for holding av elekfrolytten, hvilken foring har en bunn og vegger som sfrekker seg opp fra bunnen. Et antall ikke-konsumerbare Cu-Ni-Fe-anoder og katoder er anordnet i en vertikal retning i elektrolytten. Katodene har plateform og anodene har en flat utforming i tilpassing til katodene. Anodene har åpninger igjennom seg, hvilke åpninger muliggjør en sfrøm av elektrolytt igjennom åpningene for derved å tilveiebringe aluminaanriket elekfrolytt mellom anodene og katodene. Elektrisk strøm føres igjennom anodene og igjennom elektrolytten til katodene, hvorved aluminium avsettes ved katodene og gass produseres ved anodene.
