Abstract

En unik karotenoid biosyntetisk genklynge er blitt isolert fra Panteoa agglomerans stamme DC404 hvor den genetiske organiseringen av klyngen er crtE-idi-crtY-crtI-crtB-crtZ. Genene som finnes innen denne klyngen koder for geranylgeranyl pyrofosfat (GGPP) syntetase (CrtE), isopentenylpyrofosfat isomerase (Idi), lysopen syklase (CrtY), fytoen desaturase (CrtI), fotoen syntase (CrtB), og (-karoten hydroksylase (CrtZ). Genklyngen, gener og deres produkter er nyttige for omdannelsen av farnesyl pyrofosfat til karotenoider. Vektorer som inneholder disse DNA-segmenter, vertceller som inneholder vektorene og fremgangsmåter for å produsere de enzymer ved hjelp av rekombinant DNA teknologi i transformerte vertsorganismer blir utgreiet.
