Abstract
Fremgangsmåte og utstyr for produksjon av silisiummetall (Si) med høy renhet ved å redusere silisiumtetraklorid (SiCl4) med flytende sinkmetall. Zn-reduksjonen av SiCl4 og produksjonen av Zn ved elektrolyse av ZnCl2 skjer i en felles, kombinert reaktor og elektrolysecelle med et smeltet salt som elektrolytt. Reaktoren og elektrolysecellen kan fortrinnsvis være i et felles hus som er delt i to eller flere kamre som kommuniserer med hverandre (13, 1, 2) med en første eller flere skillevegger (15, 8, 7). Dessuten skjer elektrolysen av ZnCl2, som gjøres ved hjelp av egnede elektroder, i minst ett kammer (1, 2) og Zn-reduksjonen av SiCl4 skjer i minst ett annet kammer (13), der Zn-metall strømmer mellom kammeret/kamrene (1, 2) for ZnCl2-elektrolysen til kammeret/kamrene (13) for SiCl4-reduksjonen, og der elektrolytten sirkulerer mellom kammeret/kamrene for ZnCl2elektrolysen til kammeret/kamrene for SiCl4-reduksjonen. Atmosfæren i kammeret/kamrene der elektrolysen skjer er fortrinnsvis atskilt fra atmosfæren i de(t) andre kammeret/kamrene ved hjelp av den første skilleveggen (15).
