Abstract
En fremgangsmåte for behandling av en porøs gjenstand (20) som er tilvirket av metallpulver, så som et pulver laget av rustfritt stål ei serie 400, involverer et trinn med forvarming av den porøse gjenstand til en temperatur på mellom ca 700 og 900 ºC i en oksiderende atmosfære, og deretter sintring av legemet i en inert eller reduserende atomsfære ved en temperatur som er litt under smeltetemperaturen for det metall som utgjør det porøse legeme. Den termiske stabilitet for den resulterende gjenstand forbedres ved denne fremgangsmåte, slik at gjenstanden beholder sin porøsitet og metalliske karakteristika, så som duktilitet, ved høyere (eksempelvis nær smeltepunktet) temperaturer.
