Fremgangsmåten omfatter: tilveiebringelse av kobbersalt; tilveiebringelse av vann; tilveiebringelse av 5-nitrotetrazolatsalt; kombinering av kobbersaltet, vannet og 5-nitrotetrazolatsaltet for å danne en blanding; og oppvarming av blandingen. Fremgangsmåten kan også omfatte tilveiebringelse av kobberklorid og tilveiebringelse av natrium 5-nitrotetrazolat. Bestemte utførelser av den foreliggende oppfinnelsen tilveiebringer også fremgangsmåter for fremstilling av kobber(I)nitrotetrazolat.
