Det beskrives anvendelse av et materiale basert på lignocellulosematerialer, særlig et stykke tre eller sagmugg, som har vært underkastet en prosess med kjemisk behandling av lignocellulosematerialer og som omfattet å underkaste materialene en behandling med et kjemisk middel omfattende hydrokarbonbaserte kjeder idet midlet er valgt blant blandede karboksylsyreanhydrider og der midlet er egnet for å sikre poding ved kovalent binding av et antall hydrokarbonbaserte kjeder på nevnte materialer, som et materiale som reduserer eller sogar forhindrer utviklingen av mikroorganismer som fungi eller mugg som er i stand til å bryte ned nevnte lignocellulosematerialer.
