Et kraftstyringssystem er tilveiebrakt for en programvaredefinert radio. Kraftstyringssystemet innbefatter: en antenne, en regulert krafttilførsel, en effektforsterker og en digital signalprosessor. En programvareimplementert krafttilførselsberegner og krafttilførselsjusterer er virksomme innenfor den digitale signalprosessor. Krafttilførselsberegneren mottar en indikator med hensyn til en type av bølgeform som skal sendes ved hjelp av radioen og bestemmer drensspenningen for effektforsterkeren basert på bølgeformindikatoren. Krafttilførselsjustereren mottar verdier av fremover effekt og reflektert effekt fra antennen og beregner et spenningsstående bølgeforhold (VSWR voltage standing wave ratio). Spenningstilførselsjustereren beregner dessuten en justering for drensspenningen basert på nevnte VSWR.
