Abstract

Et system og fremgangsmåte for å overvåke og å distribuere tilgjengelig båndbredde innenfor et hjemmenettverk ved bruk av en hjemme-gateway er tilveiebragt. Systemet innbefatter en hjemme-gateway, en eller flere tv-bokser og én eller flere hjemme-displayenheter slik som feks. en TV, mobiltelefon og datamaskin. Når brukeren velger en film, settes en punkt-til-punkt unikast-forbindelse opp mellom brukerens tv-boks og den leverende strømningsserver plassert utenfor det lokale nettverket. Tilsvarende mottar hjemme-gatewayen et forespørselssignal for å fremvise en film fra TV-boksen, hvis signal inkluderer båndbreddeinformasjon, hjemme-gatewayen overvåker hjemme-gatewayen dersom det er tilgjengelig båndbredde. Et akseptsignal vil sendes til TV-boksen dersom det er tilgjengelig båndbredde og TV-boksen vil sende en forbindelsesbeskjed til den leverende strømningsserveren og filmen fremvises på hjemmeanordningen.
