Abstract
Det beskrives styrbare boresystemer for å muliggjøre en boring i samsvar med en forhåndsbestemt, tredimensjonal bane. Styringen kan oppnås ved hjelp av passive aktuatorer som krever liten eller ingen kraft. Eksempelvis kan det for helling eller skråstilling av borkronen i forhold til vektrøret brukes dempeelementer som kobler en borkrone til vektrøret. Alternativt kan det brukes roterende kutteelementer på borkronen for styring av kraften mellom borkronen og formasjonen på ulike aksiale lokasjoner. De passive elementene som brukes for styring av de roterende kutteelementenes helling eller rotasjon, aktiveres i samsvar med et visst mønster, eksempelvis geostasjonært, for derved å kunne oppnå et ønsket avvik for brønnboringen under boringen. En måte å oppnå dette på er å bruke feltsensitive materialer, eksempelvis magnetreologiske (MR) fluider som endrer viskositet som respons på et pålagt magnetfelt.
