Et Pl-bakteriofagkloningssystem er utformet slik at DNA-fragmenter med størrelse inntil 95 kb kan klones, og mangfoldiggjering av disse fragmenter kan kontrolleres. En fremgangsmåte for in vitro-Pl-bakteriofagpakking er utviklet. Nye vektorer, nye lysogene bakteriestammer og nye Cre*-gramnegative bakteriestammer er konstruert for anvendelse i dette system.
