En gruppe hydro-dibenzoporfyriner, fremstilt ved dl-Dlels-Alder-addlsjoner på A- og C-rlngene i egnede dlvlnyl- porfyrlner, har absorpsjonsmakslma l området 700-820 nanometer og er fotosensltlserende midler. Forbindelsene er brukbare ved behandling av mangler eller tilstander som medfarer hematoporfyrlnderivat (HPD)- behandllng i nærvær av lys. eller ved behandling av biologiske stoffer generelt for å ødelegge uenskede mål som viruser, celler og vev. Bruken av forbindelsene tillater bestråling med bølgelengder andre de som absorberes av blod. Forbindelsene ifclge oppfinnelsen kan også konjugeres til Ugander som er spesifikke for reseptorer eller mot spesifikke Inraunoglobuliner eller fragmenter derav for innslktlng på målvev eller -celler for bestrålingsbehandllng. Bruken av disse stoffer tillater at man kan bruke lavere nivåer av fotosensltlsator, noe som forhindrer sldereaksjoner som ellers kan ødelegge normalt vev.
