Abstract

Koding og dekoding av digitale bilder ved transformasjon av billedpunktblokker reduserer databithastigheten. Transformasjonen av blokker medfører diskontinuiteter hva angår lysstyrkenivå for de billedpunkter (D, E) som befinner seg ved blokkgrensene (BL1, BL2). Disse diskontinuiteter blir detektert for hvert gitt grensebilledpunkt (D) ved en endring i fortegnet for de to nivågradienter respektive beregnet med nivåene for to billed- punkter (C, E) som ligger inntil grensebilled- punktet (D). Lysstyrkenivået (NL) for grensebilled- punktet (D) blir deretter korrigert ved hjelp av en diskontinuitetskorrigeringsfaktor (FCD) med utgangspunkt i en diskontinuitetsdivergens (ED) som er lik den absolutte verdi av differansen mellom lysstyrkenivået for grensebilledpunktet (D) og aritmetisk gjennomsnitt av lysstyrkenivåer for de to tilstøtende billedpunkter, som en funksjon av en kvantiseringsstørrelse som har tilknytning til en blokk (BL1) som tilhører grensebilledpunktet. Blokken (BLI) blir deretter korrigert i sin helhet for å dempe differansene for gjennomsnittlige lysstyrkenivåer mellom to tilstøtende blokker (BL1, BL2) som er generert ved koding og dekoding.
