Abstract
Fremgangsmåte for dannelse av kjemisk aggregerte, porøse, volumgivende kompositt- pigmenter for anvendelse i formuleringer for fylling og belegning av papir. En vandig oppslemming dannes av utgangs-mineralpartik- ler valgt fra en eller flere medlemmer av gruppen som består av kaolin, kalsiumkarbo- nat, titandioksyd, gips og glimmer. En kar- boksylholdig polymer eller kopolymer med høy molekylvekt tilsettes til oppslemmingen for å flokkulere mineralpartiklene. Et overskudd av kalsiumioner tilsettes til den flokku- lerte oppslemming for å felle ut kalsium- saltet av den karboksylholdige polymer in situ på utgangs-mineralf nokkene, slik at det derved dannes aggregater av utgangs-mineral- partikler som er innbyrdes forbundet ved hjelp av kalsiumsaltet, og som har en volu- minøs, porøs fnokkstruktur . Gassformig kar- bondioksyd tilsettes til oppslemmingen og reagerer med gjenværende kalsiumioner for å felle ut kalsiumkarbonat på det polymere karboksyl-kalsiumsalt. Dette forer til dannelse av ytterligere lysspredende tomme rom eller porer og styrker forbindelsene mellom de flokkulerte utgangspartikler. De resulterende komposittaggregater utvinnes og tørkes i form av et produkt. Komposittaggre- gat-produktene er også beskrevet og er gjen- stand for patentkrav.
