Abstract

Polymer omfattende en repete- rende strukturenhet med formelen: hvor R er valgt blant hydrogen og Ct.t- alkyl, Y er valgt blant O og NH, og X er valgt blant Cl, F, Br, l, N03, HSO, og H2P04 . Det beskrives også en fremgangsmåte for fremstilling av en tverrbundet polymer med strukturenheten over, ved at (a) en første etylenisk umettet, vannloselig monomer som har minst en hydrofil kar- boksygruppe, polymeriseres i nærvær av en andre etylenisk umettet monomer med formelen: RO OH i E i CH:= C - C-Y-CH;-CH-CHX hvor R, Y og X er som angitt over, (b) polymerisasjonsproduktet fra trinn (a) bringes i kontakt med en base slik at endedelen av den andre monomer omdannes til en epoksygruppe, og (c) polymerisa- sjonsproduktet oppvarmes slik at det oppnås tverrbinding av polymerisasjons- produktet.
