Det er vist en anordning (1) for kompostering av biologisk nedbrytbart avfall. Anordningen omfatter minst to separate beholdere (2, 3) og ei kvern (4) for knusing av avfallet, som står i forbindelse med hver beholder (2, 3). Kverna (4) er innrettet for, i forhåndsbestemte tidsintervall, skiftesvis å kommunisere med hver beholder (2, 3) slik at minst en, men ikke alle, beholderne ved hvert tidsintervall står i forbindelse med kverna.
