Abstract

Et system for gjenvinning av relasjoner i en data- base i tilfelle av feil, omfattende funksjonalitet som utføres ved hjelp av en datamaskin og sikrer at dataene i databasen blir strukturert som dataposter i en flerhet av gjenvinningsundersystemer, idet hver datapost tilhører bare ett undersystem. Dersom et undersystem inneholder en eller flere dataposter som er avhengig av en eller flere dataposter i et andre undersystem, vil førstnevnte undersystem bli markert som avhengig av det andre nevnte undersystem. Dersom et ferste undersystem blir markert som avhengig av et andre undersystem som er markert som avhengig av et tredje undersystem, vil nevnte første undersystem rekursivt bli markert som avhengig av nevnte tredje undersystem. Videre vil ingen par av undersystemer være markert som avhengig av hverandre. Integritets- begrensninger mellom en datapost i et undersystem og en datapost i et andre undersystem blir tillatt forutsatt at et av disse undersystemer er markert som avhengig av det andre. Gjenvinningshandlinger blir utført på et undersystem for således bare å resultere i endringer av dataposter for dette under- system og for undersystemer markert som avhengige av nevnte.
