Abstract
En fremgangsmåte for å måle posisjonen og orienteringen av et objekt er beskrevet i forbindelse med en anordning for å oppnå fremgangsmåten. Fremgangsmåten og anordningen reduserer metallvirkningene bevirket av metallobjekter som er l tett nærhet til en magnet- feltgenerator. Metallvirkningene reduseres ved å anvende en magnetfeltgenerator som skaper en roterende magnetfeltvektor og så måle tiden som er nødvendig for den magnetfeltvektoren å vandre mellom et kjent referansepunkt og avføleren, hvis posisjon skal måles. Ved å holde frekvensen for den roterende magnetfeltvek- toren konstant og måle tiden som er nødvendig for denne magnetfeltvektor å vandre den tidligere nevnte distanse, kan en vinkel mellom en referanseakse og en vektor rettet mot sensoren bestemmes. Så snart passende vinkler er målt, kan beregninger foretas for å bestemme posisjonen av avføleren. Ved å anvende et flertall av avfølere, kan dessuten orienteringen av avfølerene med hensyn til hverandre bestemmes.
