Fristempelgassgenerator med en sylinder (2) og et stempel (42) hvis ender sammen med sylinderen (2) avgrenser et brennkammer (60) resp. et bufferkammer (62), og hvor en stempelkompressor med et kompresjonskammer leverer komprimert luft til brennkammeret. Bufferkammeret (62) er forsynt med innløps- og utløpsåpninger (24,26) og utgjør kompresjonskammeret.
