Abstract
En målingsmetode basert på forplantningshastigheten til lyd kan brukes for lett og sikkert å detektere grensesjikt mellom substanser som har forskjellig lydforplantnings-. hasigheter i lukkede tanker. Framgangsmåten anvender en tidligere kjent lydsending og -mottaksmetode, så som NDT. Ved en transducer (3) ved apparatet blir et lydsignal sendt og mottatt gjennom legemet (2) av tanken til en stopper (1), forplantningshatigheten til lyden reflektert tilbake fra denne blir registrert på en displayenhet (4) der det er mulig å merke tidsforskjellene basert på lydforplantningshastigheten som er karakteristisk for forskjellige substanser. I samsvar med tidsforskjellen kan posisjonen til grensesjiktet bestemmes nøyaktig når transduceren beveges på tvers av grensesjiktene. Målemetoden kan anvendes for definerte grensesjikt for alle forskjellige substanser, forutsatt at de har forskjellig forplantningshastighet for lyd.
