Abstract

Det er beskrevet et komposteringsanlegg og fremgangsmåte for kompostering av organisk avfall, så som kildesortert husholdningsavfall, slam, treflis, halm og husdyrgjødsel. Anlegget innbefatter et tett rom (8) med en innløpssone (6), en anordning for mating av avfallet som føres fra et mottaks-og forbehandlingsanlegg gjennom en lufttett sluseanordning, en prosessene (12) med en eller flere anordninger, fortrinnsvis en struktureringstrommel (14) opphengt i en travers (46) for å føre og lufte avfallet fra innløpssonen og gjennom prosessonen til en utløpssone med anordninger (18) for utmating av det komposterte avfallet fra rommet. Bunnen av prosessonen som er forbundet med en ventilasjonsanordning (26, 30, 34) er utformet på en slik måte at luftingen skjer opp gjennom avfallet, fortrinnsvis via et bunnlag av grovt organisk materiale så som treflis. Ventilasjonsanordningen er utformet med friskluftinntak og inntak fra rommet for kontroll av oksygenkonsentrasjonen og temperaturen. I anlegget er det anbragt et varmeveksiersystem for å fjerne den dannede varmen fra prosessluften og kondensere vannet fra denne for tørking av komposten. Prosesstemperaturen holdes i området 55-62°C, og den optimale oksygenkonsentrasjonen for forråtningsprosessen opprettholdes. Oppholdstiden i prosessonen har en tilnærmet varighet på 5 - 25 døgn.
