Abstract
Selektiv katalytisk reduksjon av nitrogenoksidet til nitrogen bevirkes ved å omsette nitrogenoxid, nitrogendioksid eller en blanding derav med et reduksjonsmiddel som består av en alifatisk karaboksylsyre med 1-5 karbonatomer ved en temperatur som spenner fra ca. 250 til ca. 600°C, i nærvær av en katalysator som omfaner et metalloksid hvilket utvelges fra den gruppe som består av vanadiumoksid, kopperoksid, nikJceloksid og jemoksyd, idet katalysatoren bæres på en porøs bærer. Fremgangsmåten i folge oppfinnelsen gjør det mulig i det vesentlige å fullstendig redusere N0¿ til harmløst N, på en effektiv, miljømessig gunstig og kostnadseffektiv måte.
