Abstract

Ultralydavsøkingssystem som benytter sektoravsøkning ved hjelp av en rekke transduktorer (12) anordnet i en gruppe (10) og hvor de enkelte transduktorer har bestemt faseforhold til hverandre, med en separat mottakerkanal for hver enkelt transduktor (12) i gruppen (10). Hver kanal (35) innfører en tidsforsinkelse for det ekkosignal som frembringes ved refleksjon mot et medium, fra hver enkelt transduktor i gruppen. De forsinkede ekkosignaler summeres slik at det dannes en styrt, dynamisk fokusert og dynamisk vindusavgrenset mottakerstråle selv når den utsendte ultralydstråle ikke stammer fra transduktorgruppens (10) sentrum. Mottakeren har en stråledanner i form av en stråleenhet (50), og denne enhet omfatter et multiplum av stråledannende kanaler (35). Enheten (50) øker dynamisk forsinkelsene i hver kanal uten å innføre uønskede diskontinuiteter, ved kombinasjon og synkronisering av en krets (101) en interpolator (107), idet den siste bruker såkalte "Wallacetre-summeringskretser" (115) for å summere sammen binærsifferfor- skjøvne versjoner av inngangssignalene på digital form. Antallet summeringer er mindre enn antallet blnærsifre som ellers ville vært nødvendig for å representere ekvivalente koeffisienter ved en matrise- behandling. Dette reduserer antallet komponenter som trengs i kretser for å håndtere stråledannelsen, i forhold til den konvensjonelle teknikk, særlig der det brukes multiplikatorer med forskyvnings- og summeringskretser, i et antall som tilsvarer antallet binærsifre i koeffi- sientene.
