Abstract

I en fremgangsmåte for opparbeidelse av slagg og/eller aske fra varmebehandling av søppel, pyrolyseres, for- gasses eller delforbrennes søppelet (1) i et første fremgangsmåtetrinn, hvorved det dannes tungmetallholdig slagg og/eller aske (8) med et relativt høyt innhold av karbon. Slagget og/eller asken (8) oppvarmes i et andre fremgangsmåtetrinn i en roterovn (6) til en temperatur som ligger under smeltetemperaturen for slagget og/eller asken (8), hvor slagget og/eller asken (8) før utføring fra roterovnen (6), oppholder seg tilstrekke- lig lenge i roterovnen (6) for at tungmetallene som foreligger deri, overføres til sin metalliske form ved reduksjon med karbonet som foreligger i slagget, og de lett flyktige tungmetaller overføres til gassfasen og føres ut av roterovnen (6) sammen med røkgassen (9), og tungmetall-utarmet slagg (15) til slutt føres ut av roterovnen (6).
