Abstract

I stereoskopisk video-overføringsutstyr hvor et forstørrelsesjikt-bilde blir disparitets- forutanslått ved å anvende et bilde i et nedre sjikt, bringe bildet i det nedre sjikt til nærmere tilpasning til forstørelsesjikt-bildet ved å forskyve bildet i det nedre sjikt til høyre for å kompensere for inter-okular kameralinse-avstand. Bevegelsevektor- søkområdet for å anslå disparitet er redusert for å forbedre kodingseffektiviteten. I en koder blir den optimale forskyvning, x, mellom forstørrelsesjikt-bildet og bildet i det nedre sjikt fastlagt for å oppnå enten en minste midlere feil eller en minste midlere kvadrert feilverdi mellom forstørrelsesjikt-bildet og bildet i det nedre sjikt. Denne forskyvning x er avgrenset innenfor et forskyvnings-søkområde X. De x bildeelement- kolonner lengst til høyre i bildet i det nedre sjikt utelates, og de x kolonner lengst til venstre i bildet i det nedre sjikt fylles opp for effektivt å forskyve bildet i det nedre sjikt mot høyre med x bildeelementer, for derved å frembringe et referansebilde for å kunne brukes for forut å anslå disparitet i forstørrelsesjikt-bildet. Ved vilkårlig formede bilder, slik som VOP-bilder, innenfor en bilderamme, blir partiet lengst til venstre tatt ut, mens partiet lengst til høyre blir fylt opp. I en dekoder blir forskyvningsverdien x gjenvunnet, hvis den er tilgjengelig, samt anvendt for å gjenoppbygge referanse-bilderammen.
