Abstract

Foreliggende oppfinnelse tilveibringer et multibærer transmisjonssystem, for eksempel et DMT-basert VDSL-system, som anvender ortogonale bærere av høyere ordens QAM- konstellasjoner for overføring av multiple bits per bærer og symbol, idet systemet inkluderer digitale mottaker og senderenheter, idet mottakerenheten inkluderer en symbol- detekteringsenhet, kjennetegnet ved at systemet er til- passet for å bestemme en parameter for hver enkelt bærer, idet parameteren er indikativ for et avvik av et mottatt symbol fra et korresponderende konstellasjonspunkt, sammen- ligne parameteren med en øvre og en nedre grense, og dersom parameteren er på utsiden av denne grense, forandre konstellasjonen anvendt for å modulere bæreren til en nabokonstellasjon. Symboldeteksjonsenheten kan anvendes for å bestemme parameteren skom kan ha et forhold på d2/a2, hvor d er den korteste avstand mellom nabokonstellasjoner, a er et standardavvik, og a2 er variansen av avvikene av ingangs- og utgangssignalverdiene for nevnte symboldeteksjonsenhet.
