Abstract
Den foreliggende oppfinnelse vedrører en fremgangsmåte for utforming av en ildfast gjenstand innbefattende trinnet å utforme et ildfast materialpulver til et mellomlegeme med en form og størrelse som tilsvarer den ønskede form og størrelse av gjenstanden, ved å velge et karbiddannende metall eller en karbiddannende legering som materiale for mellomlegemet, ved å eksponere det utformede mellomlegeme for en hydrokarbongass eller en blanding av hydrokarboner ved en temperatur som overskrider nedbrytningstemperaturen for hydrokarbonet eller hydrokarbonene, inntil massen av mellomlegemet har økt med minst 3 %, og deretter og eksponere mellomlegemet for en temperatur på 1000-1700 °C i en inert atmosfære dersom temperaturen under det foregående fremgangsmåtetrinn var for lav til å sikre en fullstendig karbidisering av mellomlegemet. Oppfinnelsen vedrører også en gjenstand fremstilt ved fremgangsmåten.
