REFERIDO A UN PROCEDIMIENTO PARA TRATAR AGUAS RESIDUALES A FIN DE ELIMINAR SIMULTANEAMENTE MATERIA ORGANICA, NITROGENO Y FOSFORO. DICHO PROCEDIMIENTO INCLUYE UN TANQUE ANOXICO QUE RECIBE AL MENOS DOS CORRIENTES, INCLUYENDO AGUAS RESIDUALES AFLUENTES DE PLANTA Y LODO ACTIVADO DE RETORNO. ESTAS CORRIENTES SE MEZCLAN EN EL TANQUE ANOXICO PARA FOMENTAR LA LIBERACION DE FOSFORO Y LA FERMENTACION DE MATERIA ORGANICA PARTICULADA Y DISUELTA. EL LIQUIDO MIXTO SE TRANSFIERE A UN TANQUE AIREADO QUE TIENE BAJAS CONCENTRACIONES DE OXIGENO DISUELTO PARA FOMENTAR EL DESARROLLO DE BACTERIAS DE LIBERACION DE FOSFORO QUE SE RECIRCULA EVENTUALMENTE AL TANQUE ANOXICO A MODO DEL LODO ACTIVADO DE RETORNO. SE PRODUCEN LA NITRIFICACION, DESNITRIFICACION Y LIBERACION DE FOSFORO SIMULTANEAS EN EL TANQUE AIREADO. UN TANQUE DE MEMBRANA SEPARA EL EFLUENTE TRATADO DEL LODO ACTIVADO QUE CONTIENE MICROORGANISMOS, EN EL QUE UNA PRIMERA PARTE DEL LODO ACTIVADO SE RETORNA AL PRIMER TANQUE COMO EL LODO ACTIVADO DE RETORNO
