Description

Title: Improvised Desalinator
Technical field
The present invention model generally relates to devices for water purification and desalination more particularly to a water desalinator using either heating or solar energy.
Background of the Invention Model
El Nifio is the abnormal warming of the sea surface temperature in the Equatorial
Pacific Ocean and is characterized by below normal rainfall. Water levels in major dams started to drop due to the absence of rain, causes the shortage supply of water.
The scarcity of fresh water resources and the need for additional water supplies is already critical in many arid regions of the world and will be increasingly important in the future. Many arid areas simply do not have fresh water resources in the form of surface water such as rivers and lakes.
The ocean contains more than 96 percent of the Earth’s water. Desalination means any process that removes the excess salt and other minerals from water in order to obtain fresh water suitable for animal consumption or irrigation. If almost all of the salt is removed for human consumption, sometimes the process produces table salt as a by- product.
Insufficiency of water in remote and coastal areas has been a perennial problem.
To address the problem, may have tried to remedy this problem using different distillation apparatus but the equipment made is either expensive or not portable. The market offered with numerous types of water purifiers utilizing electricity but none of them could both desalinate and purify water.
In view of the aforementioned, it is foremost goal of this invention model to give solution. The present invention model is designed to produce fresh water especially for coastal areas and remote locations where there is scarcity of fresh water.
The present invention model will provide purified fresh water, and make it safer for consumption. Add to this, the present utility model will make available a portable and inexpensive purifier.
Description of the Prior Art
Unlike in other prior arts which uses layers of rocks and filters to purify water, and 40 glass, this invention model does not require costly filters and electricity because it uses either solar energy or heating. Other prior arts are costly due to frequent changing of filters. This invention model will provide potable water as long as there is available sunlight or fire.
Some of the prior arts including granular activated carbon filtering, distillation, 45 reverse osmosis, direct contact membrane distillation and gas hydrate crystal centrifuge method.
Others household water filters and fish tanks use activated carbon filters to further purify the water. Household filters for drinking water sometimes contain silver as 50 metallic silver nanoparticle. If water is held in the carbon block for longer period, microorganisms can grow inside which results in fouling and contamination.
In one prior art, the invention model uses heated sea water and passes along the surface of a hydrophobic polymer membrane. It uses the process of evaporation of water 55 and passes from the hot side through force in the membrane into a stream of cold pure water on the other side. The difference in vapor pressure between the hot and cold side helps to push water molecules through.
One prior art uses gas hydrate crystals centrifuge method wherein carbon dioxide 60 is mixed with contaminated water at high pressure and low temperature, gas hydrate crystals will contain only piain water.
Most of the prior arts require complex processes to filter water. The current invention model will involve only simple evaporation and condensation. 65
Brief Description of the Invention Model
Figure 1 is the perspective view of the improvised desalinator 70 Detailed Description of the Invention Model
Referring now to the drawings in detail, there is shown an invention mode! for improvised desalinator comprising a main body 10 being defined by a closed receptacle preferably made of stainless steel having a closed bottom portion 1 a salt water chamber, a closed top portion 3 being internally provided with an inverted pyramid stainless shape cover. Wherein the inference portion of the said partition, a stainless condensate cylinder 4 at the center as the water collecting basin which connected to the discharged port 6 into the pipe 6.1 as faucet for fresh water product outlet, a stainless steamer plate 2 as the base/platform of the condensate cylinder 4 which the salt water pass through coming from the inlet 5 & connected to the side of the device, the pipe outlet 7 for the salt residue pipe and the stainless platform 8 connected with the stainless stand 9 of the invention model.
For the improvised desalinator to work, open the inlet 5.1 to pour the salt water through the stainless steamer 2 and finally into the salt water chamber 1, place the desalinator under the sun or heat with charcoal to boil, and allow water to evaporate.
The process of desalination and purification is done during the evaporation process, where water evaporates leaving the salt in the salt water chamber 1, and the said water condenses in an inverted pyramidal shape at the top most portion of the cover 3 where temperature goes down thereby producing fresh water.
This will be collected at the water collecting basin 4. Fresh water collected at the stainless condensate basin 4 will flow through the discharged port 6 into the pipe and exit at the faucet.
When the salt water chamber 1 becomes filled with sediments like salt as by product and dirt will be removed by opening the residue pipe outlet 7.1.
