Abstract

This utility model seeks to improve the harvesting of sugarcane by providing a cutting system for a harvesting machine using a single cutting element. A pair of mandibles with teeth attached to a rotatable chain in order to collect the sugarcane stalks towards the cutting element is likewise provided. After the sugarcane stalks have been cut by the cutting element, these will be knocked down at perpendicular angle to the forward movement of the harvester by a knockdown assembly. The cut sugarcane stalks will thus be cut neatly in rows and arranged in an organized manner to be collected by the farmer using a companion stripper and loaded onto trucks by a loader for delivery to the sugar refinery. Hydraulics provides adjustment means in order to control the range of movement of the mandibles, knockdown assembly, and cutting element.
