The rod 14 has a thread 22 formed in its other end portion. A sprocket 23 is screwed on the thread 22. It can be rotated manually as well, and it is . mounted only for rotation in the housing 31. A re- versible motor 24 is provided in the neighborhood of the sprocket 23. A chain 26 is passed round the sprocket 23 noted above and a sprocket 25 mounted on the shaft of the motor 24. A spring retainer 27 is screwed on the threaded portion of the rod 14 between the lower end 18 of the rockable arm 10 and the sprocket 23. Another spring retainer 29 is secured to the lower end 18 of the rockable arm 10. A ceil spring 28 is provided between the spring retainers 27 and 29. Reference numeral 30 designates a gap between the lower end 18 of the rockable arm 10 and the end face of the cam 16 on side of the large diameter por- tion 17 thereof. .
The switch 7 operable by the detector 74 the switch 20 operable by the cam lb on the projecting end 15 of the rod 1% and the reversible motor 24 are operatively coupled to one another such that the motor 2h is started in the direction of bringing the rock- able roller 12 into contact with the stationary roller 2 when the detector 6 detects the presence of unhulled rice in the hopper 3 and that the motor 24h is stopped according to the degree of contact between the rock- able roller 12 and stationary roller 2.
A second embodiment of the present invention will now be described. This embodiment basically has the same construction as the first embodiment described above. In this embodiment, the pressure control is done not electrically but mechanically.
As detector 6 is used one having a hopper-like shape.
The detector 6 has an outlet 50 formed at one end of its bottom 51, which is downwardly inclined from its other end toward the outlet 50. A support rod 52 projects integrally from the end wall of the detector 6 opposite the outlet 50. Its free end is pivoted ’ by pin 54 to the top of a projection 53 projecting up- right from the top of the housing 31. The detector 6 has a projection 55 projecting from the end wall defining the outlet 50. A lower end of a spring 56 is attached to the projection 55. Its upper end is attached to the lower end of an adjusting screw 57 screwed for vertical displacement in a portion of the housing 31. When the quantity of unhulled rice in the unhulled rice hopper 3 is increased, the de~ tector b is pivotally moved downwards against the spring force of the spring 56. Conversely decrease of the unhulled rice quantity causes toward pivotal movement of the detector 6 by the spring force of the spring 5. Reference numeral 58 designates a fall~out prevention member which is adapted to be relatively inserted into the detector 6 from the above,
Reference numeral 59 designates a rotary : switching section, which is used for effecting me=- chanical pressure adjustment instead of pressure ad= justment by the forward and reverse driving of the motor caused by the switches in the first embodiment.
It is operable with the pivotal movement of the de~ tector 6.
Means for mechanically bringing hulling rollers toward and away from each ether, is provided on the lower end of the rockable arm. 10. More specifical~ ly, a sdfew 60 is securedly screwed on a threaded end 15 of horizontal rod 14 projecting from see-through hole 13 formed in the lower portion of the rockable . arm 10. Reference numeral 61 designates the inner face of the screw 60, A gear 62 is secured concen=- trically to the sprocket 23. The rotary switching section 59 noted above is disposed in the neighbor hood of the gear 62. It has an output shaft 63. A gear 62 is fitted for axial movement on the output shaft 63, and it can be meshed with the gear 6he A - ]
y 26089 spring retainer 27 is screwed on an intermediate threaded portion of the rod 14. A flange 65 is secured to the rod 14 between the spring retainer 27 and the lower end 18 of the rockable arm 10. A large spring 66 is provided between the spring res tainer 27 and flange 65. A small spring 67 is pro= vided between the flange 65 and lower end 18. } The rotary switching section 59 has a box like casing with an integral downward projection 68.
The projection 68 has a horizontal see-through hole 69 which is penetrated by the threaded rod 14, The projection 68 has a horizontal section 70 extending from the lower end of its vertical section. The other end of the horizontal section has an integral upright section which is secured by a pin 71 to the lower end 18 of the rockable arm 10. The output shaft 63 noted above penetrates the casing of the rotary switching section 59. ‘A pair of bevel gears 72 and 73, e.g., differential gears, are provided in the casing of the rotary switching section 59. The bevel gears 72 and 73% have respective integral clutches formed on these opposed sides. A clutch body 76 is provided between the bevel gears 72 and 73. The bevel gears 72 and 73 are loosely fitted for axial movement on the output shaft 63. The clutch 76 is splined to the output shaft 63. An L-shaped link 77 is pivotally mounted on the top of the casing of the rotary switching section 59. One end of the L=- shaped link 77 is linked by a rod 78 to a central portion of the support rod 52. A pin 79, which is movable to the left and right but is not movable in the vertical directions, project from one side wall of the casing of the rotary switching section 59 at a position corresponding to right longitudinal center of the output shaft 63. A central portion of a re- versal lever 80 is mounted on the pin 79. The upper end of the reversal lever 80 is linked to the other end of the L-shaped link 77. The upper end of a rotary lever 81 is linked to the lower end of the reversal lever 80. It has a pin 82 projecting from its central portion and mounted in the downward pro-— jection 68 of the casing. The lower end of the rotary lever 81 is pivoted by a pin 83 to the threaded : rod 1%. An automatic/manual change-over lever 84 is provided for axially displacing the gear 64. Rew ference numeral 85 designates a gape
The bevel gears 72 and 73 are normally in ‘mesh with a bevel gear 88 and coupled to a pulley 89 therethrough, The pulley 39 is rotated via a belt 87 passed mound it and a pulley B86 mounted on the rockable shaft 1l.
The operation will now be described in con- junction with the first embodiment. When the on=- off valve of the hopper 3 is opened, unhulled rice therein is allowed to fall and strike the detector 6. As a result, the switch 7 is turned on to ener= gize the motor 24, thus causing the sprocket 23 to be rotated through the sprocket 25 and chain 26 to move the rod 14 with the threaded portion 22 in mesh with the sproimket 23 to the right in the Figures.
The rockable arm 10 is thus urged by the spring re- tainer 27 mounted on the rod 14 via the spring 28, causing a rotation of the rockable arm 10 in the counterclockwise direction about the shaft 9 to bring the rockable roller 12 mounted on the rocke able arm 10 into contact with the outer periphery of the stationary roller 2. The motor 24% is contie nually energized to continue rotation of the sprocket 23, The rod lk is thus caused to project outwards | from the see-through hole 13 by compressing the coil spring 28, so that the gap 30 is produced between the cam 16 and lower end 18 of the rockable arm 10,
Eventually, the operating rod 21 of the switch 20 is brought to the large diameter portion 17 of the ¢am 16 to turn off the switch 20, whereupon the motor ww 10 =
24 is stopped.
Thus, the unhulled rice in the hopper 3 is fed out by the feed roller 5 to be hulled between i the rollers 2 and 12 under adjusted spring force of the coil spring 28.
The spring force of the coil spring 28 can be adjusted to adjust the hulling ratio by adjusting the position of the switch 2v by turning the screw 19,
When the upper 3 gets out of unhulled rice, that is, when there is no longer unhulled rice strike ing the detector 6, the switch 7 is turned off. As a result, the motor 24 is energized via a timer, thus causing the sprocket 23 to be rotated reversely via the sprocket 25 and chain 26 so that the rod 14 with the threaded portion 22 in mesh with the sprocket 23 is moved to the left.
The rockable arm 10 is thus rotated about the shaft 9 in the clockwise direction to separate the rockable roller 12 carried by the rockable arm 10 from the outer periphery of the stationary roller 2 and bring it back to the initial position.
The operation will now be described in con- junction with the second embodiment. By supplying : unhulled rice to the unhulled rice hopper 3 after ad~ justing the spring force of the spring 56 to a desired strength by turning the adjusting screw 57, the detector 6, which has been held at an up~ per position, is rotated sbout the pin 54 in the clockwise direction against the spring torce of the spring 56. The rod 78 which is pivoted at the upper end to the support rod 52 is thus lowered to cause rotation of the L-shaped link 77 with the cen- tral portion thereof linked to the lower end of the rod 78 in the counterclockwise direction (Fig. 8).
With the counterclockwise rotation of the L~shaped link 77, the upper end of the reversal lever 80 linked to the lower end of the L-shaped link 77 is moved toward the rockable shaft 11. The clutch body 76 is thus brought into mesh with the clutch . 76 via the pin 79. Since the pulley 86 mounted on the rockable shaft 11 which rotates the rockable roller 12 is being rotated at all time, the pulley 89 is rotated from the pully 86 via the belt 87, thus causing the rotation of the bevel gear 88.
Gince the bevel gear 72 is in mesh with the bevel gears 72 and 73 at all time, the output shaft 63 turns to be rotated with the coupling between the clutch body 76 and clutch 75. 1f the automatic/ : manual change-over lever 84 is held pulled in the direction of ariow a so that the gears b4 and H2 are held meshed with each nther, the gear 62 is rotated via the year 64, thus causing the rotation of the sprocket 23. The threaded rod 14 which is screwed in the sprocket 23 is thus moved in the direction of arrow b, thus causing a movement of the lower end 18 of the rockable arm 10 via the large and small springs
G6 and 67.
A counterclockwise rotation of the rockable arm 10 about the shaft 9 is thus cased, bringing the rock- able roller 12 into contact with the stationary roller 2. Subsequent to this, the sprocket 23 is continual- ly, causing first the contraction of the small spring 67 and then the contraction of the large spring 66.
The inner face 61 of the screw 60 is thus progressive- ly moved away from the lower end 18 of the rockable arm 10 to produce gap 85 therebetween.
Since the lower end of the rotary lever 81 is pivoted by the pin 83 to the threaded rod 14, the rotary lever 8 is thus mtated about the pin B2 in the counterclockwise direction, thus causing the lower end "of the rotary lever 81 to be moved in the direction of arrow a in Fig. 3% The reversal lever 80 is thus rotated about its portion pivotally linked to the lower end of the L-shaped link 77, causing a movement of the clutch ’
EE 13 an ORIGINAL J body 79 away from the clutch 75 via te pin 7%. The clutch body 76 is eventually brought to its neutral position so that its rotation is stopped. At this instant, the increase of the pressure of the rockable roller 12 on the stationary roller 2 is stopped.
In this state, unhulled rice falling from the outlet 50 is fed out by the adjusting valve 8 and feed roller 5 and hulled between the stationary roller 2 and rockable roller 12. When the hulling operation is continued for a long time, the diameters of the rockable roller 12 and stationary roller 2 are pro- gressively reduced due to wear.
The reduction of the diameters is madeup for by corresponding elongations of the large and small ‘springs 66 and 67 to urge the lower end 18 of the reckable arm 10 toward the end 15 of the rod 14 so as to have the rockable roller 12 and stationary roller 9 in forced contact with each other. The movement of the rockable roller 12 in the direction of arrow b causes movement of the downward projection 68 coupled to the lower end 18 in the same direction to move the pin 82 mounted in the downward projection 68.
This is equivalent to a movement of the lower end of the rotary lever 81 in the direction nf arrow 3.
Thus, the upper end of the rotary lever 81 is moved esr ee ! ” oo - 1b - BAD ORIGINAL 9 be l again in the direction of arrow b, bringing the clutch body 76 into mesh with the clutch 75. The rotation of the bevel gear 73 is thus transmitted ’ to the output shaft 63 so that the rockabls roller 12 ig automatically brought into forced contact with the stationary roller 2 in the manner described above. when the hopper 3 gets out of unhulled rice, the detector 6 is raised by the spring force of the spring 56 to raise the rod 78 via the support rod 52 so as to cause rotation of the L-shaped link 77, thus causing movement of the reversal lever 80 in the di- rection of arrow a to bring the clutch body 76 into mesh with the clutch 74 via the pin 79. Since the bevel gear 72 which is integral with the clutch 74 is being rotated counterclockwise with the rotation of the rockable shaft 11 transmitted to it via the pul- ley 86, elt 87, pulley 83, bevel gear 88 and bevel gear 72 in te mentioned order, the output shaft 63 is rotated counterclockwise via the clutch 76. The rotation of ths output shaft 63 jig transwitted via the ywurs 64 and B2 to the sprocket 23, thus moving threaded portion 22 of the rod 14 screwed in the sprocket 23 in the direction of arrow a.
The rock- able am 10 is thus rocked in the direction of arrou
. a via the inner face 61 of the screw 60 to separate the rockable roller 12. then the rockable roller 12 is separated a constant distance from the stationary roller 2, the bwer end of the rotary lever 81 is moved in the } direction of arrow a.
That is, the rotary lever 81 is rotated clockwise about the pin B2 to cause counter clockwise rotation of the reversal lever 80, thus bring- ing the clutch body 76 to the neutral position via the pin 79.
