Jedna ze stosowanych metod usuwania jonów zelaza z kwasu siarkowego jest metoda jonowa, polegajaca na tym, ze do oczyszczonego kwasu dodaje sie okreslone ilosci utleniacza i kwasu solnego, co powoduje przejscie zawartych w kwasie jonów Fe+2 i Fe+3 w kompleks FeCIg"3. Powstaly kompleks zostaje nastepnie zaadsorbowany przez zloze slabozasadowego anionitu. Zloza anionitowe po wyczerpaniu regeneruje sie surowym kwasem siarkowym.
