The mentioned stretching devices, especially at increased speed of the cutting machine, cannot fully secure the parallelism of the shortness of the fleece in the waist. As a result, it is not possible to obtain long stretches of the undercut. The stretching apparatus according to the invention consists of feed rolls and output rolls, between which there is a quasi-twist mechanism and a grooved roller separately driven. This roller has grooves with tapering sides. A variation of the apparatus is the use of two driven, grooved rollers with different directions of rotation between the feeding rolls and the rolls producing two driven rollers with different directions of rotation. The stretching apparatus according to the invention is illustrated in an example of embodiment in the drawing, in which Fig. 1 shows an apparatus with a quasi-twist mechanism and a grooved roller, and Fig. 2 shows an apparatus with two grooved rollers. The apparatus consists of two extension fields. formed by a pair of feed rollers 1,2 and a grooved roll 4, and output rollers 6, 7,8.
